My teaching practice journey officially began on 17 July, marking the start of my classroom life as a teacher trainee. I was assigned to teach Class 8, and my first lessons were from the chapter Square Identities. The very first day was filled with excitement and nervousness, as we introduced ourselves to the students and slowly stepped into our roles as teachers. The warmth and curiosity in their eyes made the beginning memorable.
On the second day, a strike affected regular classes, but the day turned meaningful in a different way. Along with teachers and fellow trainees, I took part in cleaning activities in the computer lab, science labs, library, and a few classrooms. It was a different kind of learning — understanding responsibility beyond the blackboard.
Throughout these two weeks, we experienced various school duties and opportunities. We were given substitution periods in UP classes, helping us interact with younger students as well. One of the memorable moments was when we organized a Lunar Day Quiz Programme, which brought excitement and active participation from students. I also performed discipline duty during the lunch break, observing school life from a teacher’s perspective and ensuring a safe and calm environment.
These initial days of teaching practice taught me that being a teacher means more than just teaching lessons — it means guiding, supporting, managing, learning, and growing along with the students.
